Profile of vision function amongst learners with low vision attending inclusive schools in Kakamega County, Kenya

Background: The quality of vision function low (LV) children determines their ease and success in performing activities daily living including academic undertaken whilst at school. Aim: aim this study was to determine the LV learners attending inclusive schools Kakamega County, Kenya. Setting: This designed public primary with placements by County Educational Assessment Resource Center. Methods: a school-based cross-sectional study. A census survey identified 21 learners, who met World Health Organization (WHO) classification had been assessed placed 11 County. Participants underwent standard assessment tests. Data were entered into Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 25 software analysed using descriptive inferential statistics. summarised presented tables, figures percentages. Results: Out selected, 19 (90.5%) assessed. best recorded visual acuity (VA) 0.33 decimal notation far 0.02 0.01 right eye left eye, respectively, near. vast majority, 94.7%, reduction stereopsis, 42.1% defects colour vision, 20.0% reduced contrast sensitivity (CS) 15.8% field impairment within central 20 degrees. Conclusion: There is an overall decrease amongst most affected parts are VA stereopsis.
